Transformed a 20+ year-old ASP.NET Web Forms application — hosted on an on-prem server in a closet — into a modern Next.js 15 + React 19 frontend with a .NET 9 Clean Architecture backend, fully hosted in Azure. Built from scratch a web-based graduation planning and endorsement exploration tool for Texas high school students navigating the state's new Foundation + Endorsement graduation requirements (HB5). As the sole developer, I designed and engineered the entire platform — from database architecture and interactive course selection wizards to an interest quiz and printable graduation plans. The platform was piloted with Alief ISD in Houston, later acquired by Texas OnCourse at the University of Texas at Austin, and continues today as MapMyGrad.org serving students statewide.

Two reasons. First, I cover engineering, product, and UX myself — so there are no handoffs, no miscommunication, and no coordination overhead. Second, I lean heavily on agentic AI for the mechanical work: analyzing codebases, scaffolding, test generation, and migration boilerplate. That combination lets a single experienced engineer ship full-team output, faster and cheaper.
What does an engagement cost?
It depends on scope, but I keep pricing transparent. The lowest-risk way to start is a fixed-price audit: I review your system, deliver a prioritized roadmap, and give you a fixed quote for the full build — so you know the number before any major work begins. No open-ended hourly surprises.
How long does a legacy modernization take?
Timelines vary with the size and complexity of the existing system, but modernizations typically run from a few months to a couple of quarters. The upfront audit produces a realistic timeline tied to your specific platform, not a generic estimate.
Do you only do modernizations, or also new products and AI work?
All three. I rebuild aging platforms, build brand-new products from zero to launch, and add AI automation and integrations to existing systems. Many engagements blend them — for example, modernizing a platform and adding AI features as part of the rebuild.
Do you work with clients outside Austin?
Yes. I am based in Austin, Texas and work with clients nationwide, fully remote. Local clients are welcome to meet in person, but it is not required.
